Vila Nova de Foz Côa

Vila Nova do Foz Côa is known for its wines, olive oils and almonds, but also for other products of
products such as bread, the basis of many local dishes like tomato migas, fish migas and pilongas,
bolas livradas, picadas and toscas, olives, capers, sausages and sheep’s and goat’s cheeses. Its
gastronomy also includes river fish, game dishes and a wide range of endogenous, distinctive products.

Dish: Asparagus and/or chard omelette

Wild asparagus and chard abound in the region from March to May and are found on almost every table in local restaurants as a starter, whether in omelettes, scrambled eggs or migas.
