Description
The Temilobos Dam came into operation in 2004 and was designed in 1999. It connects the hillside of Lumiares to that of Vila Nova. It is intended to irrigate the extensive agricultural areas of apple orchards and other fruit trees. It is also planned to be used for leisure activities and water sports. It is an embankment dam, about 40 meters high at its foundations and 34 meters above the surrounding land. It has a crest of 365 meters at an altitude of around 755 meters. Its total capacity is 2900x1000 cubic meters and it produces almost 3 million cubic meters of water every year.
