The 18th century Casa de Mateus, attributed to Nicolau Nasoni, is one of the most beautiful examples of Baroque civil architecture in Portugal. Inside, the house has a library and a valuable museum collection, including an exclusive edition of Luís de Camões' "Os Lusíadas", commissioned in the 19th century by the then Morgado de Mateus, which can be visited.
