Church of Santa Eufémia

Description

The Church of Santa Eufémia, located in the parish of Lavandeira, is classified as a building of public interest. It is a 17th-century church with an elongated floor plan preceded by a porch supported by 12 Tuscan columns. Its straight-arched portal is framed by two Tuscan pilasters and is crowned by a pediment. The bell tower was added to the right side of the façade and has two floors. But the greatest splendor of this space lies in its interior, which has been richly decorated in Baroque style. It has a false vaulted ceiling with painted coffered ceilings depicting scenes from the life of Christ and the Virgin in the nave and a Tree of Jesse in the chancel. The walls of the church are lined with frescoes painted in blue and white depicting biblical scenes.
