Description
A temple with a simple layout of a single nave with two side entrances, no axial portal and very modest decorative elements, the church of S. João Baptista is a curiosity, an unknown and a surprise in the Portuguese "Romanesque" panorama. The archaeological results obtained so far give us a fairly old chronology for its foundation, and we can say that this is a pre-Romanesque building with successive adaptations and restorations during the Lower Middle Ages.
