Mother Church Of São Miguel De Antas

Description

A rectangular church with a nave, chancel and sacristy on the north side. A double-vaulted bell tower adjoins the south façade, in which a portal with baroque ornaments opens, next to which is a cross. The frontispiece is made of granite stonework and has a round-arched portal with seven voussoirs flanked by pilasters and topped by a quadrilobed oculus. It is topped by a gable crowned in the center by a cross flanked by pinnacles. The church's interior features include: A gilded and polychrome altarpiece from the 18th century in the Joanine style, featuring an image of the patron saint St. Michael the Archangel. Coffered ceiling with hagiological painting at the head. Its patron saint is celebrated on September 28.
