Description
The S. Lourenço Miradouro is located on the municipal road that connects Pombal de Ansiães to the village of S. Lourenço. The structure, designed by sculptor Paulo Moura, has a privileged view over the Tua valley, inviting the observer to enter the silhouette of S. Lourenço and enjoy the magnificent surrounding landscape. The view is diverse and marked by the mountains where schist and granite cohabit and where vineyards, cork oaks, olive trees and the winding river sparkle in the background. The thermal baths and the Tua River continue an eternal dialog that always surprises even the most experienced traveler. From contemplating nature, many will feel an irresistible invitation to take a hydromassage bath in the caldas or a dip in the invigorating waters of the reservoir. The S. Lourenço Micro-Reserve has been a classic herbarium site since the 19th century, a must-see for botanists and naturalists thanks to the enormous diversity of plant species, many of them rare. Its forests and rocky outcrops are home to many species of birds, bats, reptiles and amphibians.
