Description
On the main road between the villages of Fornos and Lagoaça, you can see a sign pointing the way to the Carrascalinho Miradouro, about 3 km away on tarmac and dirt roads. It's only 22 km from the town center to reach this place of extreme and incomparable natural beauty, where man's action is minimal. Between the green mountains, you can see the area where the Douro International narrows, between escarpments and deep valleys that allow small waterfalls to slide down the inhospitable terrain. For this reason, Carrascalinho is an emblematic place where you can see the largest patch of mudflats in the whole of Europe. The splendor of nature is mirrored in this territory, with vegetation that is still wild and, in the background, a greenish river that is the result of the reflection of the vegetation. The Carrascalinho viewpoint is almost "camouflaged" in the flora that surrounds it and is a strategic point for observing the fauna that flies over the area. Here you can enjoy breathtaking views full of respect, emotion and admiration. In this rugged and beautiful landscape, watching the sunrise and sunset are unique and overwhelming experiences.
