Senhor da Boa Morte Viewpoint

Description

The Senhor da Boa Morte Miradouro is part of a religious space, located next to the chapel/sanctuary of devotion to the same. It was built during the 18th century and consists of a chapel made up of two parts, with a physical division between the body of the church and the chancel in which there is a sculpture alluding to the Senhor da Boa Morte and a representation of the Calvary. From here you can enjoy a panoramic view over the Douro valley and the rugged slopes of the River Tua, where traditional Mediterranean botanical species can be seen. The Chestnut-Ribalonga Micro-Reserve is a remarkable area in terms of vascular flora, mosses and lichens. The most important patches are made up of hygrophilous woodland (cool and moist) and almost vertical rock walls. The flora is characterized by a forest of cork oaks, holm oaks and chestnut trees, with juniper, lime and hawthorn, forest areas of maritime pine and agricultural areas with vineyards and olive groves. This is excellent hunting territory for the bonelli's eagle, kingfisher and numerous species of bat.
