Megalithic Necropolis of Alto Das Madorras

This Necropolis is considered a Site of Public Interest and is located on the border lines between the municipalities of Murça and Alijó, more specifically in the parishes of Fiolhoso (Murça) and Vila Verde (Alijó). Located at an altitude of 840 meters, this necropolis is made up of eight dolmens preserving the "tumulus". It stands out for its high density of megalithic monuments built a short distance from each other and for their monumentality. The tumuli are located along the path that still runs through the plateau today, suggesting that they were intended to mark this ancestral route. The necropolis consists of seven tumuli in Vale da Arca, in the parish of Vila Verde, in the municipality of Alijó, and one in the parish of Fiolhoso, in the municipality of Murça. The dolmens are large, between 20 and 50 meters in diameter, preserving the "tumulus", with a well-built lithic shell, mixing granite with white quartz.
